Our Story

The picture to the left is literally Jimenez Basketball Academy developing in real-time. That’s our daughter, Elise. It was her first experience at a basketball practice. She was little... only 4, but she was excited to play. However, that excitement turned to tears during the first drill when she was asked to dribble. She burst out crying, sobbing about how she didn’t know how to do it. Katie tried to go out to help, but she wasn’t sure what to do. She didn’t know how to help her. Like... who knows how to break down dribbling so a 4-year-old little girl can figure it out??

It turns out her Dad could. Jesse held the ball and walked up and down the court with her, showing her how to push the ball down, so she was “dribbling.” Her tears stopped. She continued to work on things in small, chunked skills that Jesse created for her, on the fly.

We got into the car, Katie looked at Jesse and, like every good wife, told him that he needed to do this for other kids. Athletes of all ages and skill levels needed a return to fundamentals like footwork and eye-hand coordination. Jesse has the ability to see basketball differently. He can assess a player’s game and determine what they need to improve on and then break the skills down into small parts.

Jimenez Basketball Academy is the real deal. Jesse has a basketball brain unlike any other. He can see the small skills that it takes to improve a player’s game. He knows how to grow both the love of the game and their confidence. I’ve seen it happen with our own kids. I know he can help yours.
